i love the reminder that a fresh start can happen on a random friday night. it doesn't have to be big or dramatic — just a quiet decision to try again. thank you for this.

Such a lovely ritual for the end of the week and I love your theory of friends and visitors. Working late on some Fridays, and also working some Saturdays, it's hard for me to have a weekly routine like this. Cleaning the house on a weekend morning then choosing a craft (tomorrow I'm going to dye a new thermal shirt with some collected fungi) is my way of giving myself the clean slate feeling

I love this, Kyli! I started doing this last year, too. I am self-employed so I usually shut down work around 2 or 3pm on Fridays and do a "cleaning power hour" around the house where I put away clutter, wipe down surfaces, and vacuum. Then, me and my husband usually go grocery shopping together when he gets done with work (it's an oddly fun activity to do together to transition into the weekend?!) and then have a cozy night in watching a movie. It is so nice to have those things done for the weekend so we don't have to spend a day or afternoon of relaxing time doing them.

Thanks so much, Michelle! The Friday grocery shop sounds like such a move!! We always wait until Sunday and we are always so deeply unmotivated to do it.

This is an extremely inspirational post - my Friday social plans tend to begin immediately after work ends - but there is an opportunity to have the reset happen before work or while I wait for lunch to warm up. I love the intentionality of going into the weekend fresh.

Oh I love this, thanks for sharing Kyli. I remember that issue well (I believe our editor Tyler wrote it) and I'm so glad it's a big part of your weekly routine. Cleaning + an audiobook is my happy place. FNC forever!

Ok this sounds like such a lovely way to cap off (or start!) your week! It sounds like fredagsmys 😊

Cozy tacos on Friday! (fredagsmys). Which I loosely interpret as takeout. And a glass of cold wine.

This sounds magical! I used to be in the routine of ending work around 3pm on a Friday and cleaning the house before my cousin came over to chat, have a takeaway and watch movies. There is nothing that parallels waking up on Saturday morning with a clean house and a free schedule!

I am an earlier riser than my husband. On Saturday mornings, I get up, make a cup of coffee, and read for a bit or crochet with a show. So relaxing and as an introvert, I appreciate the quiet time to start the weekend
